In 2016, Slovakia had 356 urban waste water agglomerations of more then 2 000 population equivalent (p.e). These agglomerations generated a total load of 4 225 468 p.e. 84% of this load is connected to collecting systems and 15% addressed through Individual and Appropriate Systems (storage or septic tanks, micro-stations,...). These agglomerations are connected to 4 primary treatment plant, 94 secondary treatment plants and 177 more stringent treatment plants. All these treatment plants have a total design capacity of 6 297 008 p.e.
